Equipment
To become a true Tri Geek, equipment is the key. Tri Geeks are distinguished from
general triathletes by their propensity to increase expenditures on any and all equipment, nutrition, and technology to aid in the elusive goal of performance improvement, while generally avoiding a commensurate increase in time spent training. Even if you don't aspire to be a Tri Geek, here are tips on where to find equipment.

Swimming
In Johnson City, Alpine Ski Center carries a good line of swim apparel and accessories. For swim and triathlon equipment, the Swim and Tri shop in Knoxville carries a broad line of gear, both at the store and online. NOTE: several times a year, weeekend swim meets are held in Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol by the local swim clubs. The Swim and Tri shop attends these meets and sets up a temporary shop, bringing a full range of gear. Indeed, you can visit their temporary shop on Saturday of a meet. If they don't have exactly what you need, they can retrieve an item from the Knoxville store and bring it with them on Sunday.

Biking
There are several area bicycle shops, including Hampton Trails Bicycle Shop and Tri-Cities Cyclery in Johnson City.

Running
In Johnson City, FootRx carries a full line of shoes, apparel and equipment for especially for serious runners.
