February meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 PM at Piney Flats Bikes. We will be doing yoga for endurance athletes.

Traci Carroll, an athlete, physician, and former yoga instructor, will lead us in an hour of yoga tailored to the strength and flexibility needs of endurance athletes. She will explain how yoga can be a helpful addition to a triathlete's training and injury prevention regime, and then she will lead us in stretches and poses that focus on core strength and target areas of chronic tightness and fatigues, such as hamstrings, quads, and shoulders. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel, a belt or necktie, and yoga blocks if you have them. And, as always, meetings are open to non-members so bring a friend!

Also, we will have membership forms at this meetings to sign up new and returning members.

Year 2012 promises to be an awesome year
for triathlon in the Tri-Cities. We have several members going for round two at Ironman Louisville, and a handful of folks are looking to finish the season at the fun and highly-rated Beach2Battleship Iron and Half-Iron races in October.
We have a new kit design, too!

On tap for this year:
*Club social nights - bowling, bocci at Depot St. Brewery, and perhaps even some good old fashioned putt putt come spring.

*Informal time trial workouts - track your progress throughout the season without the pressure of a "real" race (although no one's stopping you from betting your buddy a Bonk Breaker).

*Day trip rides and bricks - ride the parkway and run at Moses Cone in Blowing Rock, NC. Pre-ride the Rev3Knox bike course.

*A door-prize winner at each club meeting courtesy of Piney Flats Bikes!

By the way, the USA Triathlon governing organization has announced that youth membership fees are increasing from $5 to $15. Also, youths will now pay the same $10 for one-day membership as adults. Here is a link to a detailed explanation by USAT.
